Rump Steak with Tzatziki Dressing

Cool and creamy this tangy Greek dip flavored with mint, garlic and cucumber is the perfect compliment to any grilled meat, fish or vegetables. This recipe teams the home-made tzatziki with a tender rump steak. Cooking quickly in a searingly hot griddle pan locks in all the flavour and keeps the meat succulent and tasty. 244 calories and 2.4% fat

Ingredients

  • 2 x 150g rump steaks
  • sea salt and cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 2 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 3 tbsps Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped mint

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1 Trim all the fat from the steaks and season with sea salt and cracked black pepper. Peel and finely chop the cucumber and mix with the spring onion, garlic, yogurt and mint.
  2. 2 Preheat a non-stick pan and spray lightly with oil spray. Cook the steaks for 2-3 minutes each side, depending on the thickness of the meat. Remove from the pan and allow to rest for 2 minutes.
  3. 3 Meanwhile, add 2 tbsps of water to the pan and deglaze the meat juices pouring over the steaks. Serve the steaks with the tzatziki dressing, a tossed mixed salad and home-made potato wedges.

Tips

Season the steak with cracked black pepper to add a bite to the finished dish.
