Ingredients

  • 2 red onions, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 450g lean diced beef
  • 1.2 litres beef stock
  • 1 tbsp gravy granules
  • 10g dried wild mushrooms
  • 450g small new potatoes
  • 2 celery sticks, chopped
  • 1 turnip, peeled and diced
  • 1 tbsp mixed herbs (eg parsley, thyme, chives)
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat a non-stick frying pan and dry-fry the diced onions and garlic until the onions start to brown.
  2. Add the beef to the pan, season with salt and black pepper and cook until beef is sealed.
  3. Stir in the meat stock, then add the granules and the remaining ingredients, cover and simmer gently for 1 hour or until the meat is tender.
  4. Serve with green vegetables.

Tips

Dried wild mushrooms are a great store cupboard standby to pep up sauces and casseroles.
